Looking for a comfortable mattress for my truck tent

If you already own a truck tent you know how convenient it is. You can set it up in minutes, and it allows you to have plenty of privacy when you are sleeping in your vehicle. It will also protect you from the wind, rain and even hot sun, but this doesn’t make the floor of your truck bed any more comfortable. While sleeping bags and blankets can help make the hard metal floor a little less painful, nothing allows you to get a good night’s rest quite like an inflatable mattress. The right air mattress can actually make you forget that you are sleeping in the bed of your truck, at least until you get a glimpse of the nighttime sky. After trying out various models I have finally found a mattress that not only fits my truck and tent, it is also incredibly comfortable to sleep on.

AirBedz Lite PPI PV202C Review

One of the first things I noticed about this inflatable mattress from AirBedz Lite is that it is designed to cover the wheel wells in the back of the truck. While I am not suggesting that it will make them comfortable to sleep on, it does help prevent any painful bumps and bruises if you toss and turn a little at night. The air coils are also designed to evenly distribute your weight so you can enjoy “all over” support in almost any position.

This air mattress is designed to go in the back of most standard size pickup trucks, and it measures 75” x 63” x 12” when fully inflated. With over 6 feet in length, most adults will find that they can sleep comfortably on the mattress without their feet or head hanging off. Another reason I like this mattress is its durable construction, especially since I have a pretty good idea of what is rolling around on my truck floor. The high quality PVC material is resistant to rips and tears, and this also means that the mattress won’t start deflating due to a small air leak.

While some experienced travelers can probably remember everything they need for their trip, I am not one of them. That is why I am glad that everything needed to inflate the mattress comes included with it. The portable pump can be easily stored with the air mattress, and it also comes with a 16’ cord that is long enough to use with my full size truck bed. Since it runs off of DC power it can be plugged into your vehicle’s outlet so you don’t have to worry about remembering to bring batteries or locate an alternative power source.

I am not saying that this air mattress will make the back of your truck as comfortable as your bed back home, but it might come pretty close. Best of all it is extremely easy to inflate, and it fits in the back of my vehicle and inside my truck tent.

I consider purchasing a roof top tent next time and see which one is better for my trips.

What are weather radios and how do they function?

Everyone should own a weather radio. These tiny items will provide you with the weather forecast at any time, without you having to check the prognosis. However, their main purpose is to alert people about natural hazards in any US state, so that they can reach a safe spot in time and not get caught wandering on the streets during a hurricane. Though they are intended for the purpose of broadcasting the weather news and alert people on natural hazards, they can also be used as normal radios to listen to the news, your favorite music or radio shows you appreciate.

The only thing you need to do when you receive your new radio, to be able to enjoy various radio channels is to switch from the weather channel band from the menu to the AM/FM band and to find the one you prefer. That shouldn’t be very difficult, as most products come with simple-to-use buttons.Traditionally speaking, you should have an on/off control on one side of the device, while all the other controls are arranged on the front side of the radio.

How to program your weather radio?

To be able to program your radio you need to plug it in, switch it on and then activate some basic settings. If you want to listen to the weather prognosis, search the channel by using the up and down arrows. Once you find the right frequency, and the radio can be clearly heard, you must insert your area’s S.A.M.E. code to be right away notified if a storm, hurricane, or other natural disasters are awaited in your county. The device will memorize your channel and, even if you switch to another radio channel right away, the weather alert will automatically interrupt it, to notify you of any impending weather hazards. Don’t forget to check for the code assigned to your county prior to that.

However, as I read in numerous weather radio reviews the radio can be programmed to notify if any other areas are affected by natural hazards. You just need to switch the menu preference from SINGLE to ANY and, thus, receive all county weather alarms. But, if you just want to be informed on 2 or 3 counties, you can go to the MULTIPLE category in your menu and introduce the specific codes. This way you will have access to weather information from various regions. The NWR will not only warn you in case of a natural disaster, but also if a serious accident has taken place in your area, if any chemical hazards  have happened, if any epidemic has affected a specific region, and even let you know about any terrorist attacks and threats. Having one of these with you may indeed save your life at least one time.

Retiring and living out your remaining years traveling with an RV

Starting out

Retiring and living the rest of your life in an RV might be something that may have never crossed your mind. Perhaps you’ve found out about it from a friend who’s considering it, or maybe you’d like to experience the things you didn’t have the chance to when you were employed. Some people nowadays work online and can still make a buck or two while at a campground. The greatest advantage offered by living in an RV is freedom. There’s nobody stopping you from leaving the desert unannounced. No limitations, no rent, no mortgage. Plus, you can finally visit your relatives although you might have been postponing such a trip for many years. The neatest thing about RV travel and living is that nothing and nobody’s pinning you down. As long as you stick to some ground rules, you’re set to go. Be advised, this lifestyle may not be for everyone, particularly if you’re a greater fan of golf courses than you are of not so comfortable sleeping conditions.

Finances

RVs are categorized in most of the rv gps reviews depending on their weight and size. Before deciding which one’s the best for your needs, what you need to take into account is your finances. The prices of various models can vary from three thousand to three million dollars, but we couldn’t recommend you to choose either cheap or expensive. Anything you feel comfortable with spending is convenient enough, but you have to be aware of the fact that a second-hand RV might have some problems and might require you to spend a lot more money on repairing it. You guessed it, this is money you could have spent on a brand new RV. As for what you’ll be spending on the road, you’ll have to think of consumables, food, and gas. Luckily, most campgrounds can let you stay for 21 days at a time without any fees. Some of these even have free internet.

Health plan

Since retirement traditionally happens once you’ve become older, you’re likely to suffer from one thing or the other. If you take pills on a daily basis, be sure always to check with your physician and get a subscription that allows you to avoid going into the doctor’s office every month. Also, check your insurance to see whether there’s any coverage in the states you plan to visit or camp in for a while. This can help you avoid a lot of additional costs.
